About Us

Darts Academy North East (formerly DNEYA Darts North East Youth Academy) was formed by local darts legend, Tab Hunter. Tab put in an enormous amount of hard work, time and effort in setting up the Academy from scratch. After putting down the foundations the Academy was passed over to Gav and Donna Kennedy who continued the great work of Tab. Under the stewardship of Gav and Donna , the Academy helped coach and develop emerging talent that would later play in the JDC World Championships and win England National Boys Championships as well as supplying local Counties with fresh new faces.  Unfortunately due to the uncertainty surrounding the Covid 19 Pandemic their was a real risk the Academy could have folded. From early 2022 the Academy was rebranded "Darts Academy North East" . A new venue was sourced and a new coaching team was installed.

Darts Academy North East is situated in Blyth, Northumberland. Our Academy meet every Monday, 6pm - 8pm at Blyth Sports & Social Club and is open to all youngsters from the ages of 7 - 18. We are a Target Darts Elite1 Affiliated Academy. The generous support we receive from Target allows our players the use of the best equipment,  facilities and new innovations from the biggest name in World Darts.  We are also a JDC Affiliated Academy. This enables us to network with Academies globally and give our player additional opportunities to further their game. We are the only JDC Affiliated Academy in the North East.   

Darts Academy North East reopened in 2022 to provide a supportive and accessible option for the young people of the North East to get  involved in darts. The popularity of darts is ever-growing and is now being watched by millions all over the world and more and more young people are wanting to get involved in the sport. Darts is a fun sport that can be played at many levels, and when coupled with the JDC handicap system and their access to national events our young players can enjoy the benefits the sport has to offer.

At our academy we offer a fun, friendly, non-judgemental, inclusive and supportive opportunity for young people to learn and develop their skills in the sport of darts.
